Today is National Coffee Day!!!

coffee collage
Today, is National Coffee Day!!!!!
Wondering where the term “Cup Of Joe” comes from? Why not pour yourself one and read on to find the answers to that and other burning coffee questions.
1.      Coffee is the second most traded product in the world after petroleum. World wide coffee production tips the scales at about 6 million metric tons.
2.      It takes five years for a coffee tree to reach maturity. The average yield from one tree is the equivalent of one roasted pound of coffee.
3.      People who buy coffee primarily at drive through windows on their way to work will spend as much as 45 hours a year waiting in line.
4.      Of the various botanical species of coffee trees in the world, only two are extensively cultivated commercially; Arabica and Robusta.
5.      The average person who buys coffee outside the office to consume at work will spend the equivalent value of a round trip plane ticket to Florida every year.
6.      The first coffee house in Europe opened in Venice in 1683, while coffee was available in Europe as early as 1608, mostly for the rich.
7.      The expression “a cup of Joe” to denote coffee, was first coined during WWII, when American servicemen (G.I. Joe) were identified as big coffee drinkers.
8.      The largest coffee-producing nation, Brazil, is responsible for 30 to 40 % of total world output.
9.      In the late 1800’s, Chase and Sanborn put out a flier on how to read the coffee grounds at the bottom of the cup (like a fortune teller).
10.  Coffee cherries usually contain two “beans”, except for the single bean peaberry anomaly. Cherries with three beans are deemed to be a sign of good luck.
11.  A Belgian living in Guatemala invented the first instant coffee in 1906 and later immigrated to the United States. His name, ironically enough, was George Washington.

I hope you enjoyed your cup of coffee and the little bit of trivia.  Enjoy your day and maybe even share a cup with a friend later in the day.

Thanks for sharing a cup while we chatted, here.
Have a wonderful day!
What is your favorite coffee?  Mine is Mocha Java!!!!! Yum!!!!!

15 Beauty Myths Revealed

1. You should never wax before or during your period. TRUE. Hormonal changes just before and during ovulation may heighten the sensitivity of nerve endings, which means that waxing may be more painful, The best time for waxing is just after your period.

2. You should never rub your wrists together when you apply fragrance. TRUE.
This can "bruise" the oils contained in the blend, chemically altering the scent. "Leave it alone and let the air dry it."

3. Shaving makes your hair grow thicker. FALSE.
However, it can appear that way. When you shave, you're cutting hair off at its largest diameter, so you're left with the blunt end, which often feels coarser and thicker.

4. Filing your nails in one direction, instead of back and forth, will prevent shredding. TRUE. You should file from each corner of the nail toward the middle to avoid breakage and splitting.

5. The aluminum in antiperspirants can cause breast cancer. FALSE. The Canadian Cancer Society states that there is no proven link between antiperspirants and breast cancer. While Internet scuttlebutt breathes new life into the fear that aluminum salts and other chemicals in antiperspirants mess with breast cells via your armpits' lymph nodes (think of them as conduits in the body), there's no need to sweat it – literally.

6. Plucking your eyebrows will stop them from growing back. TRUE. Sustained tweezing over many years (decades, really) may fatigue the hair follicle to the point where it may not grow back.

7. Applying petroleum jelly to your eyelashes makes them grow faster. FALSE. It's just genetics: either you have thick gorgeous eyelashes or you don't. In fact, the viscous jelly could actually plug glands on the inner rims of your eyelids that produce tears, flush out debris and fend off infections.

8. You ingest pounds of lipstick every year, and it's harmful to your health. FALSE. The average woman is estimated to consume four milligrams of lipstick daily. To reach even half a pound, it would take four lifetimes (assuming lipstick is worn from age 16 to 80). Even then there are no health risks, according to Health Canada.

9. Toothpaste makes the best spot treatment for acne. FALSE. Although some toothpastes contain benzoyl peroxide (an acne-zapping ingredient that is also used as a whitening agent), there are many more-effective products that specifically target acne. Look for products with at least five percent benzoyl peroxide.

10. Black liner will make your eyes look bigger. FALSE. Lighter shades of makeup will make your eyes stand out, while dark shades will diminish them. If you have small eyes the last thing you want to do is make them look closed or sleepy.  If your eyes are small but you love the idea of a smoky eye, gradually apply a range of light to medium shadows using an eyeliner brush. Try shades such as metallic brown that have a bit of shimmer to reflect the light. To make your eyes look bigger, curl your lashes and line the inside rim of the eye with a white eyeliner. Finish off with a layer of lengthening mascara. Avoid mascara on the bottom lashes if they are very sparse or you have dark pigmentation underneath your eyes.

11. Every time you sleep with your makeup on, it ages your face by seven days.  FALSE. Leaving your foundation on at night could lead to clogged pores and acne, but it won’t cause more wrinkles. The bigger concern is leaving on a product such as mascara. Sleeping wearing eye makeup could lead to irritation or an infection. Use a cleanser and eye-makeup remover to get rid of all traces before hitting the sack. And if you’re too tired to wash up at the end of the day, keep a set of makeup wipes at your bedside for a quick fix.

12. Sleep debt is real , you can't make up for lost zzzs. TRUE. Most women need between 7.5 and 8.5 hours of sleep every night. The hours we lose to stress, overwork and late-night partying are gone forever.

13. Storing fragrances in the fridge will make them last longer. FALSE. The oils in the scents will permeate all fats – such as butter and milk – in your fridge, causing contamination. Instead, keep scents in a cool, dark place, preferably at or just below room temperature.

14. Always apply makeup in natural light. TRUEYou need to think about the setting you’ll be in when applying your makeup. If you’re going to be in natural light for most of the day, you want to play with natural colors and textures, like a tinted moisturizer and highlighting powder. If you’re going out for a candlelit dinner, apply darker shades and play with the reflection of light using glosses on your lips and metallic shades on your eyes. Makeup is like an outfit. It really depends on what kind of look you’re trying to create. And it also depends on what suits you.

15. You shouldn't wash your hair after dying it. TRUEDon’t shampoo for at least two days after dying your hair. The colour needs to penetrate and attach itself, so if you shampoo too soon, you’ll disrupt the process and lose some color  Always use a shampoo and conditioner formulated for colored hair and a rich mask.

Cool trades and a gift

Good morning everyones,
I have done  some trades last week on Etsy and I just received my items yesterday.
I was so happy with them.
I just want to mention the fine shops with which I traded with.
You guys might want to go take a look at them for your Christmas shopping. They sell really cool items.
The first shop I traded with is Westbrook Farms Country Goods.
Shes sells upcycled items, vintage, costume patterns and more.
And I got vintage tea cups and saucers from her shop
and she also has another shop called Playne Jayne's Place
and from this shop I got this beautiful upcycled journal.

And finally I traded with this fantastic soy candle shop called Jaxx.
I got a cinnamon hand pured soy jar candle and some orange cream danish soy blend wax brittle.
They smell divinely delicious, I am burning the ornage cream danish as I am writing this post and my husband was thinking that I had been baking something really sinfully delicious.  Boy was he deceived.  Poor him..
and on a finishing not , a feature client of mine from Quattro Design shop on Etsy who was featured here about 1 month ago, sent me a pair of violet earring made of polymer clay, as a thank you gift.
I was very touched by her gift.  These earrings are also very beautiful and I have been wearing them every day since.  Thanks again Anne-Marie for the earrings, greatly appreciated.
So this is it for now, I wish you all a great Tuesday.
Please stay tuned for some more reviews soon.

Black bean and squash chili, fall goodness

Good morning, it's a beautiful day today outside.
I want to tell you what I did on the weekend.
Well I live in Quebec, Canada and we had ground frost on Friday night so I had to cover my beets, swiss chard and leeks.  But I did bring some beets and swiss chard in.
So I blanched some shiss chard leaves and froze them in portions so we can use them later on.  I also cut up the branches and forze those up too, to use them in stews and soups.
And the beets and cut up the branches to feed my guinea pigs and keep the leaves for us to eat immediately like spinach.
And then on Saturday around noon I took out my Crockpot and decided to cook up a delicious black bean and butternut squash chili.  A recipe I found while visiting this blog called Frugal in WV.
That is where I found the link to this recipe.

And let me tell you with fall at our doors and cooler temps hitting us around here, it is good to have heartier meals to warm us up.
here are a few pictures to give you an idea of what it takes and looks like, there will be a link to the recipe at the end.
The Ingredients for the chili.

Once the ingredients are all cut up and in the crock pot.

Once the chili is cooked and ready to eat, ti smells so good.

For the recipe go to
And by the way it reheats very well.

One more thing I did that day for my daughter to boost up her spirit,
I cook her a batch of strawberry and raspberry jam.

Nothing too complicated though, I had a bag of each frozen fruits in my freezer.
So I cooked both with a bit of sugar.

And voilà! Before you know it I had 2 jars of homemade jams for her, nothing tastes better and it soothes the soul.  She works so hard, she works all weekend and goes to college all week.
She was really happy when she got home after work.

So it was a good day all in all and then I went outside to take in some rays.
And you, what did you do on the weekend?

Pillow box tutorial

A tutorial for a pillow box by Nathalie Brault from recupefashion.blogspot.com

I got this idea a couple of years back because I got fed up of throwing so many toilet paper rolls.  Mainly I try to recycle as much as I can.
And I came up with this idea after seeing a tutorial of how to make a pillow box from scratch and I thought that TP rolls would be half the work done.

These pilou boxes are great way to offer gifted presents to the ones you love or friends and also to wrap your sold items to send to your customers if they accept recycled wrappings. I know most of them now do.  It’s less expensive.
You can decorate them to your business colors and put your logo on them.

Step 1-
Here’s what you will need to make your own pillow box:
-Toilet paper roll
-scissors
-pointy instrument or bone folder
-ribbon
-crafty paper
-round object (like a glass or bowl)
-glue stick

Step 2-

Take your toilet paper roll and your pointy object or bone folder and trace around at the end of the TP roll, like in the picture below and cut of the exterior part.

Step-3

Then take your round object and do the same thing but in reverse, trace around on the inside.
It will be to fold in and close the edges so the goodies don’t come out.

Step 4-
Now fold in the edges where you traced the lines, you will find that they fold in quite easily.

Step 5-
Now decorate your pillow box with your craft paper and ribbons, and voilà, ready for your goodies and ready for gifting or off to your customers.!!!

If you liked these, please let me know…

Long winter hats

Good afternoon everyone,
I know it's been a long time since I,ve posted anything here, and I'm sorry.
But I,ve been a bit off the scene.
I was enjoying sumemr outside and doing not much inside.
Simply relaxing my back a lot. If you remember I had a back surgery last year so I cannot do as much anymore so, this summer I took pretty easy.
But this fall I,m back in business with my shops especially since Etsy changed everything around.
I've been retitling all my items so they come up better in the search engines and on Google.

I also want to let you know that I am not gonna be selling through this site  no more but only through my Etsy shop.  When I get enough money I'll have my blog technician work on my blog again.

So today I would love to let you all know about my new winter hats that I put in my shop.
Here is what they look like
They sell for $25.00 each, and they make great gift ideas for Christmas or why not treat yourself?
Get them here at Recupefashion shop.

Thanks for reading, and I'm making it a point to post at least 4 times a week.
Have a great day all.
Good to be back.

Joe Browns for Great Summer Clothes

Hi everyone, welcome.
What a gorgeous day it is here in Quebec.

Now summer is closer then ever and it feels great.
You guys know how much I love shopping and how much I love to get clothes that look different and feel great, especially when they are made from cotton.
I have found some great Casual Clothes on a fun site that you guys should look into.
They have some great women's clothes for this summer which look really cool.
Weather you are looking for a cotton dress, a pair of shorts, a pair of jeans or a simple camisole,
look into Joe Browns site and you'll see what you're looking for.
They have it all.  And their clothes are all cotton.  They have from size 8 to size 18.
Joe Browns is all about being in fashion, quality and great prices.
And us women know that when it comes to dressing, we need to have a place that knows about fashion and good taste and great prices.

Their clothes have great style, which is a bit like a the beach bum style as some would say.
Their site is very friendly and they have a great way to display their clothes.
Even though the clothes are not on live models,  I find they are well very displayed and you can see the clothes very well and determine if you like them or not.  You can also see them in a bigger format, and you can even zoom in even closer.  So you can see the details.
I've bought a few clothes from them in the past year and have had a very good experience and am very satisfied and recommend Joe Browns site to everyone.
I love their clothes and they are very comfortable to wear.
It's very easy to purchase on their site, and it's also easy to return, though I've not return anything personally, I've just read about it on their site from other customers. But they do everything to make it easy for the customer.

So if you're looking to wear something a bit different this summer and feel beautiful and relax,
shop at Joe Browns and see what I'm talking about.
IF you have purchased something from Joe Browns please leave a comment here to let us know how it went.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
